I am interested in volunteering. How can I be a mentor within the Program Mentors for Migrants?

The Program Mentors for Migrants is an initiative that, through volunteerism, promotes the exchange of experiences, mutual help and support among citizens. It allows for mutual understanding, in which differences fade down by resolving the same difficulties, concerns and challenges of everyday life.

- I am available to take part in a project that values ​​diversity;

- I want to contribute to social inclusion through corporate volunteering;

- I want to promote appreciation of diversity, openness and dialogue in the organization where I work;

- I am interested in becoming a mentor and live a mutual-help experience with an immigrant citizen living in Portugal or a Portuguese emigrant who wishes to return;

 - I have personal and professional skills that can be useful in this project.

The volunteer mentors can, from this experience, further develop their personal skills, openness to diversity and opportunity to exercise their participatory citizenship.

In practical terms, being a mentor is to establish a social commitment for a minimum period of three months, carry out fortnightly meetings at a place to choose by the parties, for the resolution of one or more needs identified by the migrant citizen.
