It is possible to obtain a visa to get the residence for a third-State national for:
- Higher Education
- Secondary Education
- Non-remunerated internship
- Volunteering Programme
The conditions to obtain a visa for residence authorization are:
Higher Education
- To have a travel document, the validity of which covers the foreseen extension of the stay;
- If you are underage – authorization from who has parental responsibility;
- To meet the conditions of admission in a higher education institution.
Secondary Education
- To have a travel document, the validity of which covers the foreseen extension of the stay;
- If you are underage – authorization from who has parental responsibility;
- To be not below the minimum age nor above the maximum age determined by the Decree Nr. 1079/2007, dated 10 December (14-21years old) (http://www.acidi.gov.pt/noticias/visualizar-noticia/4cdbf6fd08501/portaria-estabelece-idade-minima-e-maxima-para-requerentes-de-visto-de-residencia-para-frequencia-do-ensino-secundario);
- You have been accepted at a secondary education institution;
- You are accommodated throughout your stay in a family that meets the conditions fixed in the exchange programme or you have your accommodation assured.
Non-remunerated internship
- To have a travel document, the validity of which covers the foreseen extension of the stay;
- If you are underage – authorization from who has parental responsibility;
- You have accepted as an unremunerated trainee in a company or in a officially recognised vocational training establishment.
Volunteering Programme
- To be the minimum age;
- To have been accepted by an officially recognised organization in Portugal responsible for the volunteering programme you are in.
Yes. The fact of having a residence visa does not mean that the SEF will grant to you, necessarily, the residence authorization. There are other conditions that must be met.
