How do the Registration Stations work?

A registration station must be created when the number of voters or their geographical dispersion justify it. The creation of new registration stations and the definition of their areas as well as the extinction of the previous stations are made in cooperation with DGAI (article 25, nr. 2).
A registration station is created and its areas defined in cooperation with DGAI and released, within the national territory, by a public notice posted in places until the 31st of December of each year.
Abroad is announced through a list published by the Government at the Republic Diary until the 31st of December of each year (article 25 nr. 5).
 
No. However, cards valid until 26th October of 2008 are kept by their holders (article 2 of the Law nr. 47/2008, of 27th of August).
 
In February, the DGAI, through SIGRE, proceeds to the issuance of the census books digitally in order to allow their printing by the census commissions for effects of consultation and request of the interested during the month of March (article 56).
 
Until the 44 day previous to the date of the election or referendum, the DGAI, through SIGRE, makes available to the census commissions the lists of changes occurred in the census books.
The census commissions, through SIGRE, access to the previous lists of the previous number and adopt the necessary measures to prepare their exhibition.
Between the days 39 and 34 previous to the election or referendum the mentioned lists of the previous number are exposed at the headquarters of the census commissions, for effects of consultation and request of the interested,  
The voter may also consult data from the related voting books, through computerized means, namely, the internet (article 57).
